For many visitors, Tuscany embodies the Italian ideal but organizing a visit on your own can prove difficult. That is why we take care of everything by providing round-trip transportation and guiding you into the heart of this UNESCO World Cultural Landscape.
Wander through Car-Free Montepulciano
You’ll leave Rome aboard a comfortable air-conditioned coach. As you drive through the Tuscan hills, your English-speaking tour leader will fill you in on the rich culture which originated in the pre-Roman Etruscan civilization.
Our first stop is the hilltop town of Montepulciano, for a walking tour with a local guide. You’ll discover narrow streets, theatrical clock towers and ancient wine cellars in this car-free town.
Immerse yourself in the architecture of St. Biagio's Church
This temple is the result of an exceptional synthesis between the artistic language of the Renaissance and the beauty of the Tuscan landscape, due to its peculiar location in the midst of a breath-taking landscape overlooking the Tuscan hills. The church, an example of a Renaissance Greek cross central plan, was used for the original design by Bramante and Michelangelo for St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.
Feast on delicious Tuscan food and wines
Having worked up an appetite, you'll have lunch with your group surrounded by vineyards. You’ll discover why Tuscany is Italy’s most renowned wine region as you enjoy a traditional 3-course lunch, with a local wine pairing including the world-famous Brunello di Montalcino wines.
Explore the ideas of the Renaissance
You can buy a signature wine here or wait until Pienza – the UNESCO World Heritage village which was completely redesigned by Pope Pius in the 15th century. It became the template for Renaissance towns in Europe. You have just the right amount of time to explore Pienza and shop for local food and wines, take photographs and eat gelato.
